Obstruction warning switch for tracks is a device for informing an incoming operator that there is an obstruction on the track. A signal light along the track turns red if an emergency button installed on a pole is pushed firmly and the operator will stop his train.
The device is to detect mudslide and derailment and as such provides a warning to prevent a train accident. It is normally placed at steep slopes and sharp curves. It activates train signals to red through the use of a built in tilt sensor.
