| | | PURAC's main goal was to install an integrated monitoring, control and information system without having to shut down production for even a moment. The same system would manage production, raw material, packing, environment and general plant services separately, and would monitor steam, gas and electricity consumption. The use of one single system would not only enable the plant operator to be involved, but would also allow involvement by maintenance, technological, logistics and environmental personnel, plant managers, chief engineers, the production manager and management. This was a tall order, but the system integrator was able to deliver. ENCO chose to recommend automation and information software solutions from Wonderware, for the depth and breadth of their capabilities. The system reliability was important for us, and also that it would be easy to change from the existing system to the new system.With InControl software, we found that it was not necessary to change our plant's wiring. Therefore, the changeover has been very quick." With Wonderware software solutions for monitoring and control in place, PURAC installed Wonderware's Industrial Application Server—powerful applications integration and deployment software that processes large amounts of production data. After installing this server, PURAC was equipped for testing and deployment of additional Wonderware automation and information software, including: ■ ActiveFactory trending, analysis and reporting software; ■ IndustrialSQL Server historian; ■ DT Analyst downtime-tracking and production-monitoring software; and ■ QI Analyst statistical process analysis and control software.
