Wilson Tool’s version of M4 particle-metallurgy (PM) tool steel surpasses even the toughest performance expectationswhere high hardness, wear resistance and durability are critical. Although commonly used A2 and M2 tool steels have been relatively successful, they simply cannot withstand the demands of high volume applications for extended periods. A high-speed steel, M4 can handle stamping at a high rate, retaining its hardness even when the tip of the tool is heated to a low red temperature. Every Wilson HP Ball Lock tooling is hardened and triple tempered to HRC:62-64 for maximum tool life. Breaking, chipping, cracking, tool fatigue and other downtime problems are dramatically reduced with M4, resulting in long- term gains in productivity and profitability. *3V and 10V tool steels are available for special applications.
