| The hazard of electrostatic discharge damage to electronic components, modules and units is on the increase. With the increasing complexity (density) of printed circuits, they are becoming more susceptible to this type of damage. Today, voltages as low as 50 V can destroy electrostatic sensitive devices—and the greatest risk comes from manual handling: the human body often carries electrostatic charges in excess of several thousand volts.
