Description
The Weir Valves and Controls Rotary Gate valve is a quarter-turn gate valve, that offers significant operational, design and cost advantages over conventional Through Conduit Gate valves and Ball valves.
The Rotary Gate valve is designed to API 6A and 6D and is supplied in full bore fully pigable and reduced bore options. Originally designed as a high-tech all metal seated valve this product is also available in a lower cost, resilient, sealed version. They are suitable for landbased, topside and subsea applications.
Features
• Full and reduced bore configurations available
• Soft or metal-to-metal sealing
• Fire tested to BS6755 part 2
• Self relieving seats
• Anti blow-out stem
• Smooth, unobstructed flow passage
• Full wiping action - suitable for abrasive flow
• Anti static design

Operational advantages
No closed cavity above or below the pipeline flow bore, removing:
• Ingress of debris into the cavity (sedimentation), which can prevent opening and closing
• Sites for potential Hydrate formation
• Sites for potential corrosion Rotary motion - 90° input/output
• Actuation can be based on proven 'Quarter-turn' technology
• Lower risk of drawing debris across stem/shaft seals
Design advantages
• Rotary valve face to face ~ 30% of a conventional Through Conduit Gate valve
• Height (excluding linear actuator) ~ 70% of a conventional Through Conduit Gate valve
• Height (including linear actuator) ~ 40% of a conventional Through Conduit Gate valve
Cost advantages
Valve and actuator
• Rotary valve has lower manufacturing costs
• Rotary valve and actuator costs are significantly lower than a conventional Through Conduit Gate valve and Linear actuator
Supporting structure
• The reduced envelope dimensions of the Rotary Gate valve and actuator allows the use of smaller support structure
• Rotary valves and actuators can be installed back to back in less than 30% of the volume of a similar Through Conduit combination
• Lower costs for the overall project associated with the installation of the equipment
