24 HOW TO ORDER THE VACUUM CUPS When you order your vacuum cup, you can add the Vuototecnica abbreviation of the desired compound to the chosen article. These abbreviations can be found in the “VT ABR.” column in the tables. So if, for example, you wish to order a Ø 85 mm oil-resistant traditional vacuum cup, all you have to do is add the letter “A” associated with oil-resistant rubber to art. 01 85 10 defining the conformation of the cup. The code will therefore be: 01 85 10 A, defining both the conformation of the cup and the compound of which it is made with. This code requires no further description. To order the same vacuum cup, only in silicon, all you need to do is replace letter “A” with “S”, thus obtaining the following code: 01 85 10 S. All vacuum cups can be ordered with this procedure. VACUUM CUPS AVAILABLE IN THE WAREHOUSE The vacuum cups that are usually available in the warehouse are made with: - Oil-resistant rubber “A” - Oil-resistant Benz rubber “B” - Natural para “N” - Silicon “S” Vacuum cups made with other compounds are supplied upon request, except when they are available in the warehouse, and in quantities to be defined according to their size. CHOOSING THE VACUUM CUP HOLDERS Our vacuum cup holders are divided into three large groups: - Mini - Simple - Special Each of these groups are further divided according to their features (with push valve, anti-rotation system, magnetic sensor, built-in shut-off valve, articulated joints, double springing system, etc.). The choice is the designer’s and it is to be made according to the load and the handler automation degree. Further information is available in the catalogue pages dedicated to vacuum cup holders. CHOOSING THE VACUUM PUMP OR GENERATOR Calculating the capacity of a vacuum pump or generator is a rather complex procedure, since it requires the calculation of all the negative volumes (air to be expelled contained in the cups, collectors, fittings, up to the vacuum generator or to the vacuum cutoff valve), as well as an accurate analysis of the load to be handled (gripping surface, surface permeability, roughness, unevenness, etc.), the assessment of the required gripping time and the vacuum values to work on. For a quick calculation, a formulary has been created, indicating the capacities required by the cups according to their diameter. This formulary will allow you to dimension the vacuum pump or generator according to their number with good approximation and in total safety. Two categories of materials have been taken as a parameter: one impermeable (metal sheet and glass) and the other slightly porous (wood and cardboard). The vacuum cup capacity must be chosen according to the material to be handled most similar to the parameter materials. The values in the table are valid when: - The vacuum level is not below -75 Kpa; - The number of cycles per minute is below 10; - The gripping surface is not particularly rough; - Permeability remains within acceptable values, which are those of the parameter materials.
