Choosing the optimum picking concept

A key aspect of the system design process is to select the optimum picking concept. After all, it is this concept which forms the functional heart of the distribution centre. Vanderlande Industries offers all of today’s main system concepts:

ODS

Highly dynamic goods-to-man system, where large numbers of order lines are filled by a relatively low number of articles.

CPS

Goods-to-man system for a limited number of order lines, which are filled from a wide range of articles.

ZPS

Zone pick system in which picking areas are segmented into industrial workstations, optimising operator productivity in each zone through sophisticated workload balancing.

BPS

Batch pick system for large numbers of order lines, filled from a wide range of articles, with sorting to order facilitated by state-of-the-art technology, such as crossbelt sorters and put-to-light displays.
