| | | About UID The U.S. Department of Defense has instituted a mandatory program called the Unique Identification Program [UID) to identify property, equipment, materials and supplies. The UID solutions utilize bar codes, 2D matrix codes and human-readable identification marking. UID marking can be embedded into an item's surface or on a plate affixed to the item's surface; or it can be marked on a label as long as it remains permanently affixed throughout the life of the item being identified. Compatibility Universal's laser systems are compatible with Windows® XP software. Universal's systems operate from a print driver and can be used to mark UID information from labeling, word processing, graphics and CAD software, as well as from proprietary programs from UID solution providers. | | |
