splices in telephone cable. WRSS wraparoundrepair sleeves can be used on pressurized or
non-pressurized lead or polyethylene sheath
cable for underground, buried, or aerial plant.The WRSS 12 wraparound auxiliary sleeve provides a fast, simple method for sealing polyethylene
cable sheath to lead auxiliarysleeves. The sleeve features a wraparounddesign that minimizes the total splice length
required and can be installed on existing cables in confined areas.All WRSS wraparound repair sleeves are made of SuperSleeve sealing material, which
combines the strength and durability of composite design with proven heat-shrink technology. SuperSleeve sealing material is
composed of several layers of specially blended
polymers and
industrial adhesives, a fiber-reinforcing
layer, and an aluminum moisture vapor barrier
layer. The fiber-reinforcing layer provides excellent mechanical strength and eliminates
the propagation of localized damage that can
result from overheating or other errors in installation. Once the WRSS wraparound repair sleeve has been installed, the composite
design of the SuperSleeve sealing material provides superior mechanical protection from
forces such as impact and abrasion.The WRSS wraparound repair sleeve has aunique adhesive which can accommodate awide range of pressure and temperature, ideal
for hostile environments. The WRSS wrap-
around repair sleeve is designed to be used for
diameter transitions in cable where a large
shrink ratio is required. Just three sleeve sizes accommodate a broad range of cable
diameters and help reduce inventories.
