Joining as a Future Option Thorlabs offers a cost-effective and convenient way to anticipate the need for joining tables at a later date. If, when you order youroriginal table, you feel that there is a likelihood that you willeventually need to join this table to another table, you may have one of the matched joining plates built into the original table. Thorlabs will store the other matched plate. When you wish to order the second table to be joined to the first, Thorlabs will usethe existing matched plate to assure you a perfect fit between thetwo tables. Tools of the trade - Vol 18 - 36188 Tables & Breadboards

ScienceDesk™ Joined Tables
BreadboardsBreadboard Thorlabs makes standard table as large as 1.5m x 4.25m (5ft x 14 ft) and thicker sizes can be manufactured on request. However, in some situations, it may be more convenient to assemble a larger table in the laboratory, by joining several smaller tables together. All Thorlabs tabletops can be provided with special joining plates, allowing two or more tables to be joined rigidly and securely, thereby eliminating shifts in tabletop equipment when a particulartable is disturbed.Tabletops can be bolted together end-to-end, side-to-side or side-to-end, to form complex yet convenient structures. The joining process is simple and straightforward, allowing large structures to be assembled in only a few hours. In place of the heavy steel joinerplates traditionally used, Thorlabs has designed aluminum joinerrails, which produce a strong, stiff structure without affecting significantly the stiffness to weight ratio. This also enables themanufacture of fully nonmagnetic systems.
