Actuators & Adjusters

These Piezo-Electric Actuators transform electrical energy into precisely controlled mechanical displacements. A room temperature epoxy is the recommended method for making connections to these piezo-electric stacks, Item# F120. When mounting, avoid bending forces. Center the mechanical load on the piezo-electric end faces. If the actuator is incorporated into a design which calls for a preload, it is recommended that the preload not exceed 50% of the specified clamp force (45 lbs for AE0203 models, and 190 lbs for AE0505 models).

Low-Voltage Actuator, Full Displacement @ 100V

This new low-voltage actuator transforms electrical energy into precisely controlled mechanical displacements. The maximum displacement of 15pm is achieved at 100V. Please note, these devices are rated for only 100V, applying a drive voltage in excess of the 100V will lead to probable failure of the actuator.

When mounting, avoid bending forces. Center the mechanical load on the piezo-electric end faces. If the actuator is incorporated into a design which calls for a preload, it is recommended that the preload not exceed 50% of the specified clamping force of 190lbs.

OPERATING PRECAUTIONS:

■ Do not use in Highly Flammable Enviroments

■ Do not Exceed 100V Maximum Drive Voltage

■ Always Ensure Proper Drive Polarity (Red +)

■ Do not exceed 85°C

Piezo-Electric Actuator

The PE4 incorporates one of our piezo-electric stacks, Item #AE0505D16, (See above) and a manual 3/16"-100 threads per inch lead screw. The manual adjuster has better than 1pm sensitivity, which complements the 15pm range of the piezo stack. When the PE4 is combined with our MDT694A driver, translation in the order of 10nm is achievable.
