Specific Benefits Include: Features and Benefits thinkprint provides a flexible single pointof control for all print and plot operations
for product information and distributes
and optimizes access to expensive
devices while enforcing company
guidelines.thinkprint is a client-server system, andall the device configuration activities
occur at the server side. Each thinkteam
client user simply selects documents or a
BOM and requests to print on a given
device, which may be an actual physical
device or a virtual device. Virtual print
queues enable a device classification by
document type, format, media type,
physical location and more. Server-basedconversion services can print documents
generated by applications not installed by
the clients, saving software, training and
administration costs. >

Building on over 20 yearsofproduct data
management (PDM)
experience.
While electronic archives changed thedistribution and the costs of information
management, paper-based documents
industrial still play a critical role in everyday
relationships within each company and
among networks of partners, customers
and suppliers. Many small and mid-size businesses relyheavily on the Engineering department,
or a specialized documentation center
department, to provide a printed version
of relevant documents used in the
product development process. Work in
progress documents to elicit early
feedback from suppliers, released
documents of formal approvals from
customers or formal offers from suppliers,
as well as final documentation shipped
with a custom product are all examples of
activities requiring accurate, massive
and/or controlled output management.thinkprint is the solution to easilyintegrate output device management and
printing with the information managed in
the thinkPLM controlled environment.
Every authorized thinkPLM user can print
a single document, the documents
related to a specific BOM or a set of
related or unrelated documents without
any client-side configuration, even if the
physical output device is not reachable
from the client’s machine. Custom information management thinkprint automatically updates symbolicvalues and variables stored within the
files with up-to-date information from
thinkPLM, like document status, part
number revision or author. It is also
possible to define custom values,
associated to a single file or related to all
files sent to a specific print queue. Automated setup thinkprint can automatically defineprinting queues based on Windows >
 printer and faxes devices. This feature
allows rapid startup; any user can access
devices available on the network or
directly connected to thinkprint server. Virtual devices management Virtual devices allow maximum flexibilitywhen managing physical output
resources. Each virtual device may group
different physical devices. thinkprint
automatically defines the actual output
device for a file based on characteristics
such as the file type and the file format.
This allows, for example, companies to
define rules such as “print all ISO A4 and
ISO A3 AutoCAD documents on the laser
printer HPLaserjet and all ISO A2 and
larger documents on the Calcomp
plotter”. Queues management >
System Requirements With thinkprint’s queue manager, userscan automatically send an e-mail when a
print job completes and define printing
characteristics for a specific batch of files.
The
industrial monitoring system allows tracking of
each queue and each file printing status.
While the server shows the status of all
queues, the client may show the status of
print requests for the current user. >
