Thermal Protectors Series 05 Types L05 / L09

Application:

Thermal Protectors (TP) of series 05 - type L05 with normally closed contacts are utilised for overheatingprotection of all kinds of electric equipment or devices. After over-heating and subsequent cooling an automatic resetting is required. The type L09 with normally open contacts is utilised to start fans, warning lamps or acoustic signals in case of overheating. A mount-on housing with a M6-screw allows to attach these types e.g. in switch cupboards, on heat sinks or on motor casings.

Design:

These switches are equipped with a high capacity contact mechanism, wherein the bimetallic disc can move freely, without the current flowing through it. An additional spring disc maintains constant contact pressure until reaching its switching temperature. The well-proven mechanism of Thermik’s types C05 and C09 are introduced into a housing with an M6-screw including an internal insulation between the switch and this screw-housing.

Operation:

If, in the case of overheating, the rated switching temperature of the bimetallic disc is reached, it suddenly snaps over to open the contact of type L05 or to close the contact of type L09. After cooling down beyond their resetting temperature, the bimetallic disc resets and causes the contact to reclose (type L05) or to reopen (type L09). .

Features:

Small dimensions : to fit closely built-up circuits Quick response sensitivity: featured by small protector mass and excellent heat transfer from the metal - housing to the bimetallic disc Excellent long term performance : due to instantaneous switching, fine-silver contacts, constant contact resistance and to electrically as well as mechanically unstressed bimetallic disc, reproducible switching temperature values Very short bouncing times:
