PipeTEC - Corona Treatment of Jacket Pipes

PipeTEC - Corona Treatment of Jacket Pipes

Product catalog summary
Overview: The PipeTEC system is designed for the treatment of the inside surface of jacket pipes to enhance the adhesion of PUR foam, which is essential for pipe insulation. It is integrated into an extrusion line to ensure high-quality surface treatment.
Purpose: The primary goal of the PipeTEC is to increase the surface wettability of polymer-based materials like PE and PP pipes through electrical discharge, improving adhesion properties and preventing issues such as air pockets and condensation.
Electrode Systems: PipeTEC offers two types of inside electrode systems based on pipe size and tolerances: stainless steel shaped blade electrodes for optimal treatment and stainless steel brush electrodes for larger pipes with greater tolerances. Magnetic holding systems are available for shaped electrodes, while brush electrodes require a metal wire for positioning.
Technical Features: The system features high power treatment, ease of operation, full integration into the extrusion line, flexible design, no ground reference, and a magnet holder system. It supports pipe dimensions from 75-2100 mm and offers dual polarity and two-time treatment for optimized results.
Technical Specifications: The PipeTEC operates on a mains voltage of 230 VAC at 50/60 Hz, with an output voltage/power of 2 x 40 kV/max. 2000 Watt. It uses the HV-X plasma generator series and supports line speeds of 0.1-10 m/min. The system is suitable for materials like PE and PP and includes an ozone filter system for exhaust. It complies with CE, ROHs, and WEEE regulations.

The PipeTEC must be fully integrated into an extrusion line and ensures a very high level of surface treatment of the entire inside surface. High power treatment Easy to operate The purpose of surface treatment of polymer-based materials is to increase surface wettability through electrical discharge. The low surface energy of polymer-based substrates - like PE and PP pipes, often lead to poor adhesion properties. It is commonly known that an untreated inside pipe surface will result in "air pockets" when foaming, which will lead to condensation and eventually result in pipe failure when in use. The Tantec PipeTEC is specially designed for optimising the adhesion properties of the inside surface of jacket pipes prior to foaming with PUR foam. Tantec offers two different types of inside electrode systems depending on pipe size and tolerances. The stainless steel shaped blade electrodes offer the ultimate treatment of the inside surface, but for larger pipes with large tolerances the stainless steel brush electrodes is a better choice. Magnetic holding systems for keeping the inside electrode system in place are offered in combination with stainless steel shaped electrodes. For dimensions up to OD 630 mm. Brush electrodes and larger shaped electrodes must be kept in place using a metal wire from the extrusion tool or something similar. The PipeTEC is normally integrated right before the saw.
