Improved access control and tracking at ports Automated hands-free fuelling and data management The port of Turku in Finland needed improved access control and identification possibilities to guarantee an increased level of security and access control for the port area as a whole. By integrating TagMaster’s long-range RFID system with Camco’s Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, the port authority in Turku was offered a complete access control and tracking solution for the port area. Automatic identification and shipping documentation At the HirOcem cement plant, around the clock operation required improved efficiency in the delivery process for trucks and railcars. To enable unattended access, loading and unloading, a TagMaster system was integrated to the logistics system on site. The system provides automatic directions for the railcars and automatically generates shipping documentation. The readers are installed at the plant entrance and exit, along the railroad track and by the loading points. Each truck and railcar is equipped with heavy-duty ID-tags. CEMEX, one of the world’s largest cement companies, wanted a solution that could prevent unauthorized vehicles from accessing the fuel pumps and at the same time speed up the fuelling process, TagMaster RFID was their choice. ID-Tags were mounted on each vehicle for communication with a reader, mounted on the fuelling island to activate the fuel dispensers. As the vehicle drives away, the pump shuts down and the transaction data is recorded. The captured data is subsequently transmitted via the Internet to an intranet website. CEMEX has experienced improved control of the fuelling process and an enhanced overview of the resources. The driver no longer has to get out of the truck to register, which makes the fuelling process less time consuming.
