Flame Retardant Moisture Content & Thermal Stability of a Pharmaceutical Material TGA is a useful technique for determining the absolute and relative thermal stability of pharmaceutical compounds, as well as the moisture content. In this example, an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) is analyzed by TGA at a heating rate of 10°C/min. The data show a small (~2%) weight loss below 150°C, which is typical for adsorbed water.
