taps
Sutton UNI Series Taps made to DIN371/6 standard are manufactured from a Vanadium grade of Powder Metallurgy High Speed Steel (PMHSS) which incorporates a much finer grain & homogeneous structure than conventional HSS,this allows for higher hardness of the tool, whilst
maintaining toughness. TiAlN (Titanium Aluminium Nitride) is standard on UNI Series taps. This coating with surface hardness around 1750 HVN (approx.87Rc).Purple in colour, ithas excellenthothardness of 74 Rc at800°C working temperature, and a high oxidation temperature making itideal for near dry machining.
Higher reliefs than standard taps, allowing the tap to cutfreely and generating less heatduring tapping. >
Blind Hole Tapping:R40 UNI Spiral Flute Tap
3 pitch lead-in lightens the chip load over a standard spiral tap, this eases up the stress on the tap when breaking the chip on reversal atfull depth.
The flute design incorporates positive rake on the flute heel, producing a more effective cutting action on reversal.
The 40Ëš righthand spiral is a universal/general purpose helix angle,
suited to a wide range of materials for tapping up to 2.5 x D. >
Thru-Hole Tapping:UNI Spiral PointGun Tap
Capable of high speed tapping up to 2.5 x D. >
