OPERATION

In one direction, the adjustable spring-loaded poppet sleeve is shifted at valve setting by pressure on port [2] allowing relief flow to port [1]. In the reverse direction, the spring loaded inner poppet is lifted by pressure on port [1] allowing relief flow to port [2]. The relief setting is nominally the same in either flow direction.
