5 Flameproof enclosure is a proven technology deployed worldwide to operate devices that wouldnormally ignite an explosive atmosphere in the hazardous area. To achieve this goal, the electrical components are fitted in an enclosure that can withstand the pressure of an internal explosion and prevent the transmission of energy to the surrounding explosive atmosphere. Experience dealing with this type of protection is a tried and tested feature of many R.STAHLproducts. Innovative enclosure designs are available for economical solutions that can accept the apparatus to be fitted. Series production equipment and customer-specific applications are manufactured from our modular building-block array of components. Materials for enclosure manufacture include aluminium, sheet and stainless steel as well as plastics. These ideally fulfil the demands placed on them by the ambient conditions and explosion protection type. Since it involves the use of industrially available switchgear fitted into flame-proof enclosures, an advantage afforded by this technique is the economical realization of custom-made designs.
