The demands placed on our products by extreme ambient conditions have always been a permanentcomponent of development guidelines. Without exception, all the materials we incorporate in systems are matched to the specific requirements of the intended application. R.STAHL manufactures the enclo- suresfor offshore installations either from shipbuilding quality aluminium with a copper percentageof less than 0.5% or from AISI 316 L stainless steel. Especially rugged and saltwater-proof plastics are integrated in these systems to save weight and space. These control and distribution systems have undergone rough operating conditions in many installations. The type of protection of the stan- dard components is IP 66 and therefore suitable for all typical applications. Formation of condensation is prevented by several various methods. Depending on the individual ambient conditions, either an anti-condensate heating element or a ventilation unit is installed. For low temperatures, systems are equipped with anti-condensation heating units as well as components that can resist hard weather conditions. These concepts are tried-and-proven in the numerous projects in which we have imple- mented them. With this experience as our background, we can proudly offer reliable systems that are proven successful in the »real-world«. Our quest is to engineer and manufacture systems that will dependably function over the entire operating life of a plant and under all ambient conditions.
