Fig. 1 SpaceClaim 3D mark-up overlaying original and updated model versions and highlighting geometry changes. Now design input, which has traditionally been done through redlining on a drawing, over-the-shoulder directing, or a drawing a concept on a piece of paper, can be provided in a clear, unambiguous 3D form. This allows the Pro/E user to maintain focus on the detail design while other design input is being explored in parallel. When the Pro/E user receives the recommended design change it has been fully vetted and the number of design iterations between the Pro/E designer and the rest of the team has been reduced. In fact, the SpaceClaim 3D mark-up can be attached to an Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) to provide clear documentation of the change, including what the design should look like after the change is made. Furthermore, in an environment that is managed by a product data management system, such as Pro/INTRALINK® or Windchill® >
software , the SpaceClaim file can be managed as a document similar to the way a Microsoft® Word document may be included to describe a functional requirement change. Conclusion p. >
