Applications

The Sonobond Filter Collar Bonder™ is ideal for bonding filter media to circular plastic components. By means of ultrasonic technology, the equipment creates a dependable 360º bond suitable for heavy-duty bags utilized in chemical and industrial liquid filtration applications. Filter components produced by Sonobond’s Filter Collar Bonder are used in a variety of industries, including food, paper, pharmaceuticals, and petroleum. Applications include removing undispersed solids, filtering condensate, and removing plastic fines from water.

Theory of Operation

Ultrasonic bonding channels high- frequency vibrations at the interface of the plastic part and the felted filter media. This is accomplished via a welding head. The vibrations create a rapid heat buildup which causes the synthetic materials to melt and industrial fuse. The result is a strong, dependable ultrasonic bond. This is accomplished without adhesives, which require drying time, or thread, which creates perforations that affect product reliability.
