Applications

The Sonobond RingMaster™ isused for applications requiring bonding of felted filter media to circular plastic components. Using ultrasonic technology, the equipment produces a depend- able 360°bond, creating heavy- duty bags for chemical and liquid filtration applications. Filter components produced by Sonobond’s RingMaster are used in a variety of industries, including food, paper, pharma- ceuticals, and petroleum, for applications such as removing undispersed solids, filtering condensate, and removing plastic fines from water.

Theory of Operation

Ultrasonic bonding is accomplished by channeling high-frequency vibrations, via a welding head, at the interface of the plastic part and felted filter media. The vibrations create a rapid heat buildup, causing the synthetic materials to melt and industrial fuse. The result is a strong, dependable, ultrasonic bond that is achieved without adhesives, which require drying time, or thread, which create perforations that affect product reliability.
