roller bearings are•injection moulded cage of glass fibrereinforced polyamide 6,6, roller
centred, designation suffix P ( fig . Bearings included inthe SKF standard programme are also
available with a choice of up to four
different cages ( Cages a ),•unhardened pressed steel cage, rollercentred, designation suffix J or no

SKF single row cylindrical roller bear-
ings are equipped as standard with
one of the cages described below and
shown in b ),•one-piece window-type brass cage, inner or outer ring centred, designa-
tion suffixes ML and MP ( d ). c ),•two-piece machined brass cage,roller centred, designation suffix M,

Product data Page ............. 3Page ............. 16 Bearing data Note Bearings with a polyamide cage
can be operated at temperatures
up to +120 °C. The
industrial lubricants gen-
erally used for rolling bearings do
not have a detrimental effect on
cage properties, with the exception
for a few synthetic oils and
industrial greases
with synthetic base oil as well as
some lubricants containing a high
proportion of EP additives when
used at elevated temperatures. For bearing arrangements, whichare to operate at continuosly high
temperatures or under difficult con-
ditions, the use of bearings with
metallic cages is recommended.
For applications using refrigerants
such as ammonia or freon replace-
ments, bearings with a polyamide
cage can be used for operatingtemperatures up to 70 °C.At higher
operating temperatures bearings
incorporating a machined brass or
steel cage should be used. For demanding applications, likecompressors, the use of glass fibre
reinforced PEEK cages is common.
The exceptional properties of PEEK
are a superior combination of
strength and flexibility, high operat-
ing temperature range, high chem-
ical and wear resistance and good
processability. cases, it is advisable to contact theSKF application engineering service. When the bearings are used to locatethe shaft axially, the guideline values
must be reduced, as uneven flange loading can lead to increased wear
and possibly even to flange fracture. The maximum values for misalign-ment do not apply to NUP bearings or
NJ bearings with an HJ angle ring.
Because these bearings have two
inner and two outer ring flanges and
the axial internal clearanceis relativelysmall, axial stresses may be induced
in the bearing. In case of doubt, please
contact the SKF application engineering
service. >
