| | | Page.............3 Standard and Explorer - a comparison The performance enhancements incorporated into the SKF Explorer spherical roller bearings manufacturer can best be demonstrated by a life calculation comparison for the bearing 22218 E in its earlier standard and its new Explorer version. For the same operating conditions the life of • the previous standard 22218 E with - a basic dynamic load rating C = 282 kN, and - a fatigue load limit Pu = 39 kN, and • the Explorer bearing 22218 E with - a basic dynamic load rating C = 325 kN, and - a fatigue load limit Pu = 39 kN are calculated. The operating conditions are: • equivalent dynamic bearing load P = 28,2 kN • viscosity ratio k = 2 • contamination factor r|c = 0,4. Earlier standard bearing For r|c (Pu/P) = 0,4 x 39/28,2 = 0,55 using the black values on the x axis in Diagram |7| and k = 2 aSKF = 3,7 so that the life becomes Lioaa = asKF (C/P)10/3 = 3,7 x (282/28,2)10/3 L10aa = 7 970 million revolutions. | | Bearing size Explorer bearing For r|c (Pu/P) = 0,4 x 39/28,2 = 0,55 using the blue values on the x axis in Diagram |7| and k = 2 aSKF = 7,1 so that the life becomes Lioaa = asKF (C/P)10/3 = 7,1 x (325/28,2)10/3 L10aa = 24 500 million revolutions. | | Page.............32 | | |
