Product Data Sheet Version 10 / 2008 Sika® Primer-290 DC Primer for bonding and sealing timber decking strips CQP = Corporate Quality Procedure Description Sika® Primer-290 DC is a transparent, pale yellow, low viscosity liquid that cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture. It is used to prime timber decking strips prior to caulking with Sikaflex®-290 DC or ® bonding with Sikaflex -298. ® Sika Primer-290 DC is manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 / 14001 quality assurance system and the responsible care program. Solvent containing PUR formulation Transparent with a yellow tint 0.98 kg/l approx. 20 mPa·s approx. -4°C (25°F) 34% 5 - 40°C (40 - 105°F) Brush / felt / spray 100 - 200 ml/m2 approx. 60 min 30 min 24 hours Store in sealed container in a cool dry place 12 months In specific applications temperature and flash-off time may be different Areas of Application ® Sika Primer-290 DC is formulated for use on the following substrates: - Teak - Mahogany - Oregon pine - Cork - GRP based on polyester This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Test with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility. Method of Application The timber decking strips must be clean, dry and free from silicone, grease, oil and dust. The primer is to be applied with care and brushed out thinly, using a clean, dry brush. Primed surfaces should be left for a minimum of 30 minutes before sealing or bonding with Sikaflex® products. Sika® Primer-290 DC may be applied once only. Care must be taken to ensure that this single application gives adequately dense coverage. Tightly re-seal container immediately after each use.
