SIGNODE PSF Power Strapping Feeder Design, Function and Application The Signode PSF is a power strap feeder specially designed to apply straps quickly and efficiently around palletised or other large packs. Manual strapping of large, or palletised loads, is labour intensive and extremely time consuming. In some instances it can place operatives in a hazardous position and often, to overcome this, two operatives are required to complete the procedure. The Signode PSF provides a much faster and more efficient alternative to manual strapping. Only one operator is required with the Signode PSF, which also acts as a work station, enabling all packaging operations to be completed in a safe and ergonomic position - literally at the touch of a button! Included in the Signode PSF is a strapping tool located on an overhead spring pivoting system, ensuring the strapping tool is not only always in the right position, but is light to use, minimising operator fatigue. A fast efficient strapping system for large or palletised loads for use with plastic or steel strap The Signode PSF can be used with either steel or plastic strap. Steel strap 12 mm to 19 mm width; 0.4 mm to 0.9 mm gauge. Quality: Apex or Magnus may be used. Plastic strap 11 mm to 16 mm width; 0.5 mm to 0.9 mm gauge. Quality: Dylastic® (polypropylene) or Tenax® (polyester). Strap Models PSF-T: feeder with fixed bottom strap guide. PSF-B-FT: feeder with moveable bayonet. PSF-M-B-FT: moveable feeder with bayonet. Options Special dimensions on request. www.signode.com R In operation the Signode PSF is very easy to use; 1. Strapfeed around load Depressing the push button initiates the strap feeding process around three sides of the load. A timer pre-sets the amount of strap that comes out of the bottom strap guide (which can be either a fixed chute or a telescopic bayonet). Whilst strap feeding continues, a flap on the head opens to create a strap loop in a convenient position in front of the operator. The length of this loop is fully adjustable to suit individual operational requirements. 2. Securing the load By simply pulling the strap out of the top and bottom guides, the strap is easily applied around the load. The operator then inserts the strap ends in the tool to tension and seal the strap in the normal way. All unused strap can be returned to the dispenser, simply by activating the push button for a second time enabling the FT head to prepare for the next strap cycle. This feature is unique to the Signode PSF and eliminates time consuming manually re-insertion of strap for the next cycle.
