Intelligent proximity switches Easy to insert, simply more productive

Sensors and Plcs are growing together Sensors are becoming more intelligent and versatile. Thus set-ting and evaluation possibilities are increasing. Thanks to intelligent linking to the PLC, IQ-Link can now be used to implement significantly more flexibility and reliability of the sensors. The uniform exchange of data presents a great number of ad-vantages - for plant construction as well as for its operation. Thanks to the integrated availability of parameters, for exam-ple, a setting made on a sensor can be transferred to other sensors as often as required.Central data management ensures that the sensors continue to work with the correct setting values without new parame-terizing even after replacement.Furthermore, IQ-Link permits channel-specific system diag-nostics. In addition to failures in wiring sensor-specific errors will be detected. Thanks to TIA all these augmented functions are available in the usual system environment without additional configuring. TIA provides this already system integrated.

Highlights

Engineering â–  Seamless integration in SIMATIC STEP 7 â–  Transparent display of all sensor parameters â–  Channel-specific system diagnostics â–  No additional parameterization software needed Start-up â–  Less wiring effort due to use of standardized, unshielded 3-wire connections â–  Sensor parameters are teachable and can be copied â–  Editing or teaching of sensor parameters optional â–  Avoidance of sensor interaction through anti-interfer-ence function â–  Simple and cost-effective wiring, fast commissioning New communication standard:IO-Link Operation and maintenance Well-known manufacturers of sensor and automation technol-ogies partnered up under the roof of the PROFIBUS user orga- nization (PNO) to develop an integrated communication stan-dard for sensors and actuators. After completion of the specification at the beginning of 2008 together with the inte- gration into the fieldbus level first IO-Link products will come into the market.Retaining the low-priced point-to-point wiring the goal was to create potential for further cost reductions for the user on commissioning and maintenance costs as well as plant avail-ability.The proven IQ-Sense technology from Siemens was incorpo-rated into the IO-Link specification. Siemens has played and will play a leading role in the creation of the new standard which additionally has been turned in as an IEC standard. â–  Dynamic parameter modification using the PLC â–  Integrated diagnostic information down to the sensor level â–  Swap of sensors without reparameterizing â–  High plant availability with alarm and message displays for preventive maintenance 4
