Quenchers - 1

DIABON® Quenchers Applications Quenchers are widely used in the chemical, pharmaceutical and environmental industries to rapidly cool down incineration, process or flue gases. They provide an efficient way to meet emission requirements for plants and to recycle condensation products. Process Technology For the treatment of gases in an aggressive chemical environment our DIABON® pipe quenchers are a prime choice with respect to operational lifetime and efficiency. Further processing of the saturated gas can be carried out using scrubber or absorption columns. Technological highlights Our DIABON graphite pipe quenchers are a perfect choice for treatment of aggressive gas components such as hydrogen chloride and elemental chlorine gases. They offer multiple advantages: P P ompact design C eliable cooling of gases close to the R saturation point uperior corrosion resistance against S aggressive condensates uitable for gas temperatures up to 1600° C S apid cooling of flue gases may inhibit R recombination (e.g. furanes and dioxins) ow pressure at feed nozzle of circulating liquid L ood failsafe running properties due to liquid G reservoir between pipes peration hardly impaired by dust as O crowns are constantly flushed o wear parts inside quencher N Broad Base. Best Solutions. DIABON® quencher unit Customer value Our customers enjoy an excellent production efficiency P ell proven, reliable design W P ow operating costs – low pressure L requirements for circulation of liquid P ow maintenance costs – quench design based L only on static parts Atomization of absorption liquid

Quenchers - 2

Function and design The operating principle of our DIABON quenchers is the co-current flow of hot gases and cooling circulating liquid through the inlet crowns of the quencher pipes. Within the design range the circulating liquid inside the inlet crowns is distributed in droplets. High turbulence and a large heat exchange surface between droplets and gas provides the basis for an efficient heat and mass transfer. Cooling water Absorption liquid In the quencher the pipes are cemented to the bottom, surrounded by a cylinder. The incoming liquid flows upwards in between the pipes before...
