All electrical, coolant, and lubrication connections are conveniently located in a central location at the rear of the spindle. A host of alternate nose designs, drives, lubrication types, power draw bars, and bearing arrangements enables SETCO 5ales & Engineering to supply a spindle to satisfy your exact needs. The SETCO SMART SPINDLE is today's ultimate spindle for reliability, maintainability, and precision machining. | | | | | | The SETCO SMART SPINDLE provides the versatility to meet the strenuous demands being placed on today's machine tools. This is accomplished through the use of high-power integral motors that provide power from 1 to 63 kW, speed control from 1 to 18,000 RPM, and full torque down to 0 RPM. A high-resolution position encoder, mounted directly to the main spindle shaft, is capable of detecting the spindle position within 90 millionths of a degree over the entire speed range when operated with a digitally controlled, intelligent AC mam spindle drive. This resolution makes highly accurate spindle orientation possible. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Integral to the SMART SPINDLE design is the motor drive system. This drive system consists of several components: amplifier, spindle motor, and encoder. Each of these components performs an individual task, that together form a "closed loop" system, The amplifier converts the low-power signals from the customer's system controller to high-power signals capable of driving the spindle motor. The encoder returns low-power signals to the amplifier which in turn indicates the velocity and position of the motor shaft. The signals are known as "feedback" and are compared to the system control signals to ensure uniformity. This "closed loop" system provides accurate speed and position control. | | | | | | AM PL!
