INSTALLATION & OPERATION
Control location should be within sight of sampler and preferably require connecting air lines of no more than 30 feet each.
Refer to the SAMPLER CYCLE CONTROL BULLETIN included with this manual to install your Sentry (SEC) control in its most effective location.
4.3-SAMPLER INSTALLATION. The approved mounting of the sampler on the line places the nose (front of the body) close to the flowing product so that as the plunger extends and withdraws it takes a sample directly from the flowing product. The short 1 1/2" ferrule clamp port on the side of the adapter tee, (as recommended and/or furnished by Sentry Equipment Corp) provides the proper line mounting location for the sampler.
4.3.1-If a standard Sentry (SEC) adapter tee cannot be used, a 1 1/2" Tri-Clamp style
ferrule clamp port must be devised. The ferrule branch should be just long enough to accept the sampler mounting clamp without interference. A minimum of 2" clearance space beyond the face of the mounting ferrule is required to allow for full plunger movement.
4.3.2-Disconnect piping, insert or weld sampler mounting tee and reconnect piping to tee. Attach sampler to short 1 1/2" Tri-Clamp ferrule port on tee with clamp and gasket.
4.3.3-Check to insure sampler body is HORIZONTAL, discharge port down.
4.3.4-lnstall air line to professional fittings on sampler. Use the 16 foot lengths of flexible tubing provided.
4.3.5-lnstall sample collection industrial container to sampler discharge port.
5.0 - INSTALLATION INSPECTION
5.1-GENERAL. After installation, the sampler should be periodically checked for proper operation and to insure that any wear is detected so that proper preventive maintenance can be performed.
5.1.1-On continuous duty installations, the sampler should be checked once a day for proper operation and the presence of any indicators of maintenance required.
5.1.2-On intermittent duty installations, less frequent inspections are needed.
5.1.3-On all installations, a definite schedule of inspection should be established. The SAMPLER MAINTENANCE BULLETIN included with your manual describes recommended procedures for routine cleaning and maintenance.
5.2-START-UP INSPECTION. Initiate a manual sampler cycle at the control and observe operation of the sampler.
5.2.1-With control power "ON" and sampler removed from line, turn selector knob to
"HAND" for approximately 2 seconds, then release. Sampler plunger should move forward to fully extend position and retract upon release of knob. Movement should be smooth and without excessive impact, at either extreme. As the plunger
