| 4.0 - COMPLETE DISASSEMBLY 4.1-GENERAL. If preliminary inspection indicates further work is needed, close sampler line mounting port and review the following procedures for complete disassembly. 4.2-DISASSEMBLY AND INSPECTION. Working on a clean, well-lighted bench area is stiongly recommended. 4.2.1-Remove thumb-screw type clamp between body and head. Pull cylinder and plunger assembly out, using steady pull/twist force In line with axis of body. 4.2.2-Loosen thumb-screw on heavy duty clamp holding head to cylinder barrel. Remove clamp. HOLD PLUNGER ASSEMBLY and slide barrel off piston. deformed, scored, or has flats worn on the outside diameter it should be replaced. 4.2.4-lnspect inside of barrel for scoring or wear. Wipe out with dry, non-abrasive cloth A lightly scored barrel can be polished. A heavily scored barrel should be replaced. Worn barrels can be returned to factory for inspection and possible salvage. 4.2.5-REMOVE HEAD. The cylinder head can be removed by sliding over the plunger. Hold piston end and withdraw head, being careful not to catch rod seals onto plunger O-ring seals. 4.2.6-INSPECT FRONT ROD SEAL. The front rod seal is a special O-ring of approved Buna-N rubber. Inspect for signs of wear such as portions worn or abraided flat, particularly on the inside diameter. A worn front rod seal which does not provide a snug fit onto the piston rod area of the plunger should be replaced. |
