Sensors for Mass Flow Measurement
Sensortechnics' industrial flow sensors operate on the principle of heat transfer due to mass flow. The sensor consists of a heating element located between two temperature sensitive resistors which are combined in a bridge circuit. A flow across the sensor
transfers heat from the upstream to the downstream resistor causing a
temperature difference which results in an output signal proportional to mass flow.
• Fast response times
• High sensitivity
• Measurement of low flow rates
• Bidirectional flow sensing capability

Sensors for Volumetric Flow Measurement
Volumetric flow rates can be determined by means of differential pressure measurements of liquid or gaseous flows. An artificial constriction, e.g. by an orifice plate or nozzle, is introduced into the flow channel. The resulting increase in flow velocity creates a decrease in static pressure. A differential pressure Ap can be measured across the construction which is proportional to the square of the flow rate.
Sensortechnics offers differential pressure sensors in a wide variety of different designs for volumetric flow measurement of liquids and gases.
• Ultra low differential pressures from ±1 mbar
• Wet-wet differential pressure measurement
• Square rooted output signals
