Safe-Gard Type ATM SG-490 Product Description Safe-Gard 490 is designed to provide a strong seal by Induction Heat Sealing to glass containers with conventional hot and cold end treatments. It separates to form a foil membrane over the container neck and a wax impregnated reseal liner in the closure (Type A material) Typical Applications Safe-Gard 490 can be used for sealing dry products, is available in pre-cut disc or tape form and the foil membrane can be random printed with a security message or logo. Seal Composition Nominal Thickness Metric Standard Board 0.90 mm Wax/Adhesive Hatch Pattern Aluminium foil 0.030 mm Surlyn for sealing to glass 50 gsm Composition Special Notation: The overall caliper is 1.00 mm. Typical Physical Properties: MVTR < 0.01 g/m2 24 hrs @ 38°C 90% RH (BS3177 1959) O2 Permeability < 0.01 cc/m2 24 hrs bar @ 23°C 50% RH (ASTM D-3985) Regulatory Status: All components meet the relevant FDA and BGA requirements. Storage & Handling: Safe-Gard lining materials are heat sensitive, and therefore transit or storage at elevated temperatures can result in the facing separating from the backing material. It is recommended that Safe-Gard products and lined closures are stored betweeen 15 - 30°C and 40 - 60% relative humidity. Storage at temperatures outside these limits increases the possibility of bowing, shrinking, curling or separation of the facing from the backing material. If materials are overheated or chilled during transit or storage, it is advisable to store them in the recommended temperature and humidity range for at least 48 hours before processing further. Strict stock rotation is important and it is recommended that Safe-Gard materials are wadded, capped and sealed within 12 months of our dispatch/invoice date.
