COM3 ad COM4 serial port
The INDUSTRIAL PANEL PC integrates an I/O interface on PCI BUS, with two serial ports, (COM3 and COM4), added so with the ones handled by the ETX board.
The interface consists in a IC, the MCS9835, and it is based on PCI BUS double UART channel that offers 16-byte in trasmission and reception, FIFO for each UART channel and it is particulary fit for all industrial applications requiring high performances. The two serial ports are directly managed by software from the Operative System thanks to the drivers put in the CD-Rom delivered with the system.
COM3 Serial port
The COM3 Serial port is a standard RS-232 full-duplex serial, the trasmission is bidirectional and contemporary.
The serial port is placed inside the system and uses a 10 pin connector, double row, pitch 2,54 mm. In optional modality it may be remoted on the rear of the Panel PC on a DB9 type connector as showed in figure 2.3.
