Shaft Mounting Installation Procedures for Ball Bearings
Note: Setscrew marks on the shaft can be removed by backing out the setscrews and using a flat punch to tap down the set screw burrs on
the shaft.

Apply light film of oil on
shaft.
Slide, do not hammer,
bearing onto shaft.
Place Bearing
On Shaft 3 Check Alignment 5 Alternate Torquing
of Setscrews
1 Inspect Shaft
Clean/remove burrs
Check diameter. See
page 18.
Clean mounting

Step 1: Torque setscrew
A to 1/2 recommended
torque.
Step 2: Torque setscrew
B to full recommended
torque.
Step 3: Torque setscrew
A to full recommended
torque. See page 23.

Align setscrews on
both bearings in line.

Place Bearing
