Clutch :: EC15 - 14319 EC15 Clutch

The Model EC15 transfers up to 15 lb-in (1.7 N-m) of total load with consistently repeatable performance for one million actuations. Reell’s clutches are designed for easy mechanical and electrical assembly and for low power consumption. The EC15 offers high quality performance and increased torque capacity at a competitive price.

Design Characteristics Application Considerations

Technology Single Direction Relative High Shock Electromechanical wrap spring clutch. Operating Parameters Engagement Relative to Speed Wrap spring clutches provide torque only in the direction in which they wrap down. This allows for overrunning. Due to the EC15's rapid acceleration, system inertia effects can be significant. In some applications a slip device or coupler may beused as a shock absorber. Low Wattage EC15 performance is best within the following conditions: •0°- 40°C (32°-104°F) •100-800 rpm typical, 1400 rpm max. •Minimum load friction torque 6 oz-in (0.05 N-m) plus customer input bearing torque. Rapid Acceleration The EC15 relies on relative motion between the input and output for engagement. Thus, the slower the speed, the longer the time until engagement. High Torque, Small Package Size Consistent Performance Power Source The EC15 requires only 2.5 watts of power for engagement. After spring wrap-down, the EC15 will accelerate loads from zero to full speed in less than 3 milliseconds. The EC15 provides 15 lb-in (1.7 N-m) of total load over a life of 1 million actuations with an outside diameter of about 1.2 inches (30mm), and a shaft length of about 1 inch (27mm). Engagement is made with virtually no slippage and disengagement is almost instantaneous. All Reell clutches operate on either filtered or unfiltered dc power. The use of filtered power is recommended for better life at high speed. Innovative Torque Solutionswww.reell.com
