S
ubstantial resources are demanded of a large forwarder, which is used most of the time for heavy felling with long driving distances. SMV Rapid is a forwarder with a large load capacity and has become known as a very reliable and dependable large forwarder. The large wide wheels give excellent ground clearance, roll easily and give a good bearing capacity that can be improved yet further by using tracks. S
MV Rapid has a 6 cylinder turbo engine with intercooler that together with the IQAN controlled hydrostatic transmission equips the forwarder with high tractive force, dynamic driving charac- teristics and good fuel economy. The cab is large and spa-cious offering very good visibility and all operating functions are placed around the operator position. The air conditioner with ACC has a newly developed filter system on the fresh air intake with a large filter area that gives good air exchange and also filters recirculated air. The wagon’s long frame structure and the bunk’s wide and deep centre section give a very low centre of gravity, making the forwarder extremely stable in all types of terrain. The wagon has a large load area, which gives good load volumes even with short timber lengths, but can also be loaded with double layers when the machine is ordered with a longer frame.The rear of the wagon frame is bolted and can easily be dismantled making the forwarder short and compact when the clam bunk or ground preparation unit are fitted. SMV Rapid has not only become a popular machine for these applications, but also as a carrier of chipping equipment.
