| Special Products and Minor Modifications In addition to the standard options, RDP is always prepared to consider minor changes to its standard product for particular customer requirements and also completely special designs for larger quantity on-going OEM applications. This is a new and exciting development for transducer systems generally and is based on the new Standard IEEE 1451.4 Smart Transducer Interface. The system is based on a 'chip', which is located either within the transducer or its connector, and is able to store all the calibration data, product identification, manufacturer, system location etc. This is called TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) and creates the possibility of being able to connect the transducer to an appropriate instrument and have the system set itself up according to the data in the TEDS. This is obviously of very great value in a production environment when it becomes necessary to replace one or a number of transducers, as it eliminates the time consuming and tedious business of on site calibration. Intrinsically Safe Applications RDP are able to supply LVDT based displacement measurement systems for use in hazardous areas. This entails the use of specially designed coils and Zener Barriers between the carrier amplifier and the transducer, but each system must be specially system engineered to meet the specific requirement.
