| | | Long Stroke LVDT's | | |
| | | |
| | | Proven over a century of applications in a huge range of conditions, these LVDT 's represent the ultimate in reliability. They are available from 25 mm to 940 mm full stroke with optional 'free', 'captive guided' or 'spring activated' armature assemblies and are usually energised with a 0.5 to 7 volts R.M.S. 5KHz supply. This would normally be provided by an associated 'carrier amplifier ' or oscillator/demodulator (e.g. RDP model S7 or E725). | | These transducers are based on the DCTH range and offer all the advantages of having the conditioning electronics incorporated into the transducer, especially the ability to have a 4 - 20 mA, 2 wire connection allowing long cables to be tolerated without loss of performance. As with the ACW range they are completely sealed stainless steel, welded construction and will operate up to pressures of 200 Bar in 'fresh' water or non-corrosive liquids. Applications: as for ACW but with the convenience of DC -DC operation and 2 wire 4 - 20 mA connection, allowing very long cable runs. | | |

| | | Applications: most commonly used on special machines, actuators, structures etc., where best reliability is essential. | | |

| | | LDC 'Isolated ' Long stroke DC - DC displacement transducers Physically these transducers are Identical to the DCTH long strokes, but they Incorporate different electronics to enable them to operate from a lower DC voltage in the range 5 to 18 volts. They also provide complete isolation between the supply input and the output, a feature that is sometimes very useful in complex systems to avoid earth loop or common mode interference. The standard output is ±2.2 volts nominal for full stroke of the transducer. | | |
| | | DCW Miniature Submersible displacement transducers Simple and convenient to apply these DC - DC transducers are suitable for fully submersible or very wet conditions. They can be used at pressures up to 200 Bar dependent on the type of connection chosen, but although constructed entirely with stainless steels they must be used with care in highly corrosive environments such as sea water. 'Spring activated' or 'free armatures' are available in all ranges from 5 mm to 20 mm. | | |

| | | Applications: same as DCTH long stroke but where DC -DC low voltage, and/or isolation between input and output is required. | | |
| | | Applications: as for D5 submersibles where DC - DC is preferred. | | |
| | | SSA Sea-submersible LVDT displacement transducers The SSA series are designed specifically for use in corrosive environments and are of 316 stainless steel construction throughout, completely welded and sealed to withstand high pressures at a depth of 2,300 metres. The SSA, being a basic LVDT, is most suited to environments involving shock and/or vibration but requires that it's associated conditioning electronics is located within a short distance. The LVDT will operate from a 0.5 volt AC to 7 volt AC, 5 KHz excitation supply and is normally used in conjunction with either a 'carrier amplifier ' or simple 'oscillator/demodulator'. | | |

| | | DCTH Long stroke DC - DC displacement transducers These transducers are based on the ACT series but incorporate electronics within the transducer, thus providing a convenient and easy-to-apply device. They can be operated from either a single or dual supply from 20 to 40 volts DC and provide a ± 5 volt, or 0 to 10 volts output. Ranges from 25 mm to 940 mm are available as 'free armature', 'captive guided' armature or 'spring activated' armature types. | | |

| | | Applications: as for the ACT where the convenience of DC - DC is required. | | |
| | | Applications: for high pressures in corrosive environments such as sea water Used on underwater control valves manufacturer, structural movement, underwater vehicles etc. where relatively short cables are possible. | | |
| | | ACW Long stroke Submersible LVDT Transducer This series of displacement transducers are fully submersible versions of the ACT series and includes most of the basic features of that series. They are fully welded and sealed devices and will withstand pressures of up to 200 Bar of 'fresh ' water, or non-corrosive liquid, depending on which optional connection is selected. The ACW type of transducer would be the preferred choice for applications which are likely to involve shock and/or vibration, but can be located reasonably close to the conditioning electronics. Applications: for measurement/control of long strokes in submerged, rugged situations but requiring only relatively short cable runs. | | |
