A strong profile Both the RACO spindle and the matchingball nut are ground in an air conditioned manufacturing environment. We engagein these efforts, since the accuracy, as weguarantee it, can only be achieved by pre- cision grinding. The geometrical contou- ring accuracy of our ball nut and spindleprofile are crucial for the considerably lon-ger service life of our ball screws, as com- pared with the products manufactured under conventional techniques. Beyondthis, our inductive hardening techniquewith its considerable penetration depth creates the prerequisite that each spindle can be re-ground, so that it will becomereliable once again for half of a human livespan. This translates into lower costs and shorter downtime in the event of damage. Another favorable feature of the RACOball screws is the special geometry of theprofile and the option to freely choose the ball diameter and the number of balls depending on the required stiffness of theball screw assembly. RACO has a strictquality control program, mandating to monitor the entire production processcarefully, so that the requirements concer-ning the profile geometry can be achieved every time. Moreover, the dimensionalaccuracy of all RACO ball screws and thequality of the material used are constantly checked throughout the production pro- cess and the results are recorded and pro-perly documented. In matters of qualitywe do not make any compromises. Whatever you like The product range of available RACO ball screws leaves hardly anything to be des-ired. Our standard delivery program inclu-des spindles with diameters from 6 mm (0.236”) to 200 mm (7.874”) and lengths ranging from 450 mm (17.7”) to 8000 mm(315”) –each of them with different profi-les and in different classes of accuracy. It is typical for RACO to accept special or-ders. In line with our customer’s demandswe manufacture high precision ball screws with length of up to 12m (472”) and with almost any profile required. Precision as a Program Today, we can not imagine modern machi- ne tools and industrial equipment without ball screws. When high position accuracyat a high operating frequency is requiredin material handling applications, these kinds of drive elements will be deployed.Good example would be a robot system. The achieved precision of RACO ball screws is the result of decade long engi- neering developments and the extremecare and attention given during the pro-duction process. The ball nut makes all the difference The core of the RACO ball screw is the multi- circuit ball nut with its single circuitstraight ball return. For this design aworld-wide patent has been granted, whe- reby the balls in the ball nut will be retur- ned from its load carrying task in the shor-test pass. The advantages are: a higherload carrying capability with smallest out- side ball nut dimensions resulting in hig- her efficiency and a longer ball screw lifeexpectancy. RACO ball screws with singleor double ball nut assemblies can be pre-cisely preloaded for backlash free opera-tions. This allows reproducible posi-tion accuracy under varying linear forces and changing directions.
