Easy to Use Touchscreen Controller
Solutions for Single Layer Sensor Implementations
The QT4120 and QT4160 ICs provide standard solutions for super thin, high performance, single touch capacitive touchscreens. Both ICs are based on Atmel's patented QField™ touchscreen technology and are part of a system approach designed to accelerate your development process.
This approach includes:
■ The touch controller IC
■ A selection of tested and qualifi ed sensor and tail designs
■ Integrated software for generating standard touch gestures
Easy Circuit Design
Both ICs are supplied in a 32-pin surface mount package only 5 mm square and require only a few additional components. Only 8 active signals are needed to interface between the touchscreen and the touch controller IC.
Three lines (a 2-wire Incompatible interface and a single line TOUCH event line) are required to connect the touch controller to the host processor to deliver touch events and X-Y coordinates for post processing and gesture generation.
The QT4120 and QT4160 ICs are self-contained capacitive single-touch touchscreen controllers designed for applications such as:
■ Mobile Phones
■ Personal Media Players
■ Navigation Systems
Single Layer Sensors
Both devices are based on Atmel's patented charge transfer acquisition method. It allows effective operation with a single layer ITO screen. The ICs signal processing algorithms provide smooth operation even in electrically noisy environments, eliminating the need for an additional shield layer and providing the thinnest possible stack-up.
Spread spectrum acquisition
Noise filtering
Superb EMC characteristics
No additional shield layer Is required In most cases
