By altering the cell size and the thickness of the honeycomb an effective sound absorber can be developed. Plascore PP Honeycomb also performs well as a sound barrier. With a film barrier or other solid facings the Sound Transmission Loss for this honeycomb structure is 25-40 dB. The natural harmonic frequency of Plascore PP Honeycomb acts to dampen structure born noises as well. Combining the honeycomb with a perforated or soft facing on one side to allow for absorption and a non-perforated or hard skin on the other, to not allow sound transmission and with the natural dampening affect of the honeycomb all makes for a unique and effective structural and acoustical composite panel. |
