DESCRIPTION
STANDARD CYLINDRICAL Inflatable Stoppers are commonly used for stopping off pipes particularly where access is difficult. They are frequently used for testing new pipes and drains.
SPHERICAL Inflatable Stoppers give less contact area than the cylindrical version, but are very useful when access is limited. Since the position of the Inflatable Stopper in the pipe is not critical, it can be put at any angle. This is particularly useful when inserting into a small opening at the top of a pipe rather than at the end of the pipe.
SQUARE/RECTANGULAR Inflatable Stoppers have various applications specifically in air conditioning systems, air ducting and venting. SPECIFICATIONS
2" to 24" Inflatable Stopper have a 2m hose length, 8mm ID, 14mm OD and are fitted with a standard plastic valve with a V," BSP connection.
26" to 79" Inflatable Stoppers have a 2m hose length, 10mm ID, 14mm OD and are fitted with a metal ball valve with a 1/ " BSP connection.
4
It is generally accepted that the pressure which an Inflatable Stopper will hold back depends on five factors:
1 The surface of the pipe into which the Inflatable Stopper is to be inserted.
2 The friction resistance of the Inflatable Stopper cover material.
3 The total area of contact between the Inflatable Stopper and pipe.
4 Whether or not the Inflatable Stopper is supported.
5 The pressure inside the Inflatable Stopper itself.
A simple example: A 4" nylon-covered Inflatable Stopper inflated to 10 psi would withhold an upstream pressure, without danger of it sliding along the pipe, of 2.5 psi in a normal cast iron pipe.

OTHER TEST PLUGS
Pipestoppers™ also manufacture a range of expanding pipe plugs. For further details, ask for our leaflets.
Debris Inflatable Stoppers
Expanding test plug Forms a positive seal between surfaces and achieves an air and water-tight seal. Aluminium plugs conform to ISO Standards and British Standards BS 8005 for low pressure testing and sealing of pipes.
