M-403

High-Resolution Leadscrew-Driven Translation Stages with Stepper and DC-Motors

Ordering Information

Elimination of PWM amplifier noise radiation, by mounting the amplifier and motor together in a single, electrically shielded caseM-403.xDG models are equip-ped with a DC-Motor and ashaft-mounted optical encoder, providing a minimum incre- mental motion of 0.2 µm.M-403.x2S models feature adirect-drive, 2-phase steppermotor, providing very smoothoperation and a resolution of 0.1 µm per step.

Limit and Reference Switches The combination of thesestages with the networkablesingle-axis controllers C-862Mercury™ (see page 9-6) and C-663 Mercury™-Step offers high performance for a very competitive price in both single and multiaxis configura-tions. For the protection of yourequipment, non-contact Hall- effect limit and reference switches are installed. The direction-sensing reference switch supports advanced automation applications withhigh precision. M-403 / M-413 and M-404 / M-414 series of linear stages form a modular system. The M-403 is the basic family, pro-viding travel ranges from 25 to200 mm. M-413 is designed for higher loads with travel ranges from 100 to 300 mm. The M-404 and M-414 stages have the same travel ranges and load capacities, but offer high-er precision and more speed.

Part of the M-403, M-404, M-413, M-414 Modular Family Preloaded Precision Leadscrew Travel Range 25 to 200 mm Min. Incremental Motion to 0.2 µm Resolution to 0.0175 µm Stress-Relieved Aluminum Base for Highest Stability High-Load and Maintenance-Free The optimum choice of high-value, low-cost componentsmakes the M-403 family of lin-ear stages very attractive and economical. These stages are leadscrew-driven and pro- vide a minimum incremental motion to 0.2 µm. The preci-sion-machined, high-density,stress-relieved aluminum base provides exceptional stability with minimum weight. M-403 are available in 5 lengths pro- viding travel ranges from 25 to 200 mm. All models are equipped withhigh-precision linear guiding rails and recirculating ballbearings. The recirculating industrial ball bearings are maintenance free and immune to cage migra- tion. The choice of compo-nents and careful mountingguarantees high load capacity, longer lifetime and high guid- ing accuracy. The stages can carry up to 20 kg and push/pull up to 50 N. high-performance ActiveDrive™ system. The ActiveDrive™design, developed by PI, fea- tures a high-efficiency PWM (pulse width modulation) servo-amplifier mounted side- by-side with the DC-Motor andoffers several advantages:

Application Examples

Automation R&D

Increased efficiency, by eliminating power losses between the amplifier and motor

Semiconductor technology Metrology Quality assurance testing

Reduced cost of ownership and improved reliability, because no external driveris required
