High-Load Precision-Translation Stages with Stepper and DC-Motors

Three Motor Drive Options The top-of-the-line M-414.xPDversions feature the high-per- formance ActiveDrive™ sys- tem. The ActiveDrive™ design, developed by PI, features a high-efficiency PWM (pulse width modulation) servo amplifier mounted side-by-side with the DC-Motor and offers several advantages:

M-414.1PD High-Load and Maintenance-Free Elimination of PWM ampli- fier noise radiation, by mounting the amplifier and motor together in a single, electrically shielded caseM-414.xDG models are equip-ped with a DC-Motor with alow-backlash gearhead and a shaft-mounted optical encoder, providing a minimum incre- mental motion of 0.1 µm. M-414.x2S models feature adirect-drive, 2-phase stepper motor manufacturer, providing very smooth operation and a resolution of 0.2 µm per step.
M-414.1DG For the protection of yourequipment, non-contact Hall- effect limit and reference switches are installed. The di- rection-sensing reference switch supports advanced automation applications with high precision. M-403/M-413 and M-404/M-414series of linear stages form a modular system. The M-403 is the basic family, providingtravel ranges from 25 to 200mm. M-413 is designed forhigher loads with travel rangesfrom 100 to 300 mm. The M-404 and M-414 stages have the same travel ranges and load capacities, but offer high- er precision and more speed.

The recirculating ball bearings are maintenance free and immune to cage migra- tion. The choice of compo- nents and careful mounting guarantees high load capacity, longer lifetime and high guid- ing accuracy.

Incremental Motion to 0.1 µm Resolution to 0.0232 µm Stress-Relieved Aluminum Base for Highest Stability The modular M-414 family ofprecision-linear stages pro- vides high-performance at a very attractive price. High-value components offeroptimum results in motion and positioning. The integrated low-frictionball-screw combines high duty- cycles and velocities with mini- mum incremental motion of 0.1 µm. These stages are de- signed with a precision- machined, high-density, stress- relieved aluminum base for exceptional stability and high loads. Travel ranges from 100 to 300 mm are available. These PI stages are especiallycost-effective in high perform- ance, high-duty-cycle applica- tions, when combined with the networkable single-axis con- trollers C-862 Mercury™ (see page 9-6) and C-663 Mercury™- Step.
