Nanopositioning Controllers - 13949 E-621

LVPZT Piezo Amplifier & Servo-Controller Module with High-Speed RS-232 Interface

Software / GCS Command Set The E-621 controller comeswith Windows™ installation software, DLLs and Lab View™drivers. The command struc-ture of the extensive command set is based on the PI General Command Set (GCS). The GCS was developed by PI to facili- tate the programming and operation of a wide range ofdifferent devices with a com-mon command language, thus reducing the programming effort in the face of complex multi-axis positioning tasks. It is also supported by the E-516Computer Interface Module, and most PI nanopositioningcontrollers and motor con-trollers. For more informationon GCS, see p. 9-28.

The E-621 is an improvementon the E-610-series modularcontroller/amplifier (see p. 6-34) and offers the full func- tionality of that line. In addi- tion, the E-621 is equipped with an RS-232 interface and com- mand interpreter.

New and FastCommunications Interface

Output voltage-20 to +120 V Maximum output power11 W

The RS-232 interface handlesthe communications with theoutside world. It performs up to300 read or write operations per second and incorporates precision 20-bit D/A and A/D converters for exceptional posi- tional stability and resolution.

Average output power6 W Peak output current <5 ms140 mA

Multi-Axis Network Up to 12 E-621s with any com-bination of capacitive, SGS and LVDT sensors can be net- worked and controlled over asingle RS-232 interface. The dif-ferent modules are connected in parallel (not daisy-chained) over the link. A special chassis (E-500.621) is available for up to 12 E-621 modules. It auto-matically provides the power and network connections to the individual E-621 modules, so no additional wiring is re- quired. Only an additional 10 ms internal bus communica-tions time is required to reach any of the units behind the one actually connected to the host PC.
