Identification Systems - Introduction
Optical identification systems
The standard optical identification systems are pure fixed code systems. The code is located on a label, e.g. as barcode or as two-dimensional Matrix code. These labels are optically scanned or photographed using the reflection principle and the code is read on the basis of successive differences of intensity. The barcode reading devices (scanners) are usually connected with each other using a CAN bus and are transmitted collectively to the higher-level Fieldbus. The Matrix codes are read by a industrial camera using an image recognition method and are usually directly connected to a Fieldbus.
