Identification Systems - Introduction Integration into the network hierarchy
The IDENT systems are integrated at the process level of sensor technolo-gy. The control unit acts as an interface to the higher control level. Commu-nication with the read/write heads and their parameterisation takes place via this interface. For the IDENT control units all current Fieldbus interfaces and serial connections are available.Commands of a PLC application program are transmitted to the control unit via the Fieldbus and then forwarded to the connected read/write heads. The responses are reported to the PLC depending on the system.A defined restart after a system crash with data loss is possible on site due to the redundant data storage in the data carriers. Specifications, standards, directives
The association AIM (Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility), of which Pepperl+Fuchs is a member, promotes the application and stand-ardisation of identification technology. Further information is available at www.aim-d.de.The directive for radio and telecommunications equipment (R&TTE, 1999/5/EC) also applies to identification systems. It defines certain require-ments which are met by complying with the following standards. The rele-vant standards deal with the topics of health (e.g. EN50371), EMC (e.g. EN301489), use of the radio spectrum (e.g. EN300330/EN300440) and the electrical safety of equipment (e.g. EN60950). Transfer rates
The possible data rates depend on the communication frequency. A 125kHz system, for example, offers typical data rates of 40/120bytes per second (write/read) and a microwave system offers 130/230bytes per sec-ond.Additional time must be calculated for the data transfer on the Fieldbus and processing in the PLC.
