General specifications
The VAA-4E-G4-N is an AS-Interface cou-pling module with 4inputs for sensors perDIN19234 (NAMUR), which can be moni-
tored for lead breakage and short circuit (seenote).The IP67 rated G4 module is especially suit-able for rough conditions. Sensors attach tocable glands and cage tension professional spring termi-nals. For pre-addressing the module it canbe plugged directly onto the adapter of thehand-held programming device VBP-HH1.Both flat and round professional cables can be used for
the connection of the AS-Interface transmis-sion line. Use the U-G1F or U-G1FF base forAS-Interface flat ropes. The connection tothe AS-Interface cable is established via thestandardised EMS interface (cable piercingmethod). The U-G1F base can also be usedas IP67 AS-Interface distribution rack. Usethe U-G1FF base, when modules with out-puts are mounted in series with the module.
The flat cable for external suppliers of power supply canbe placed in this base, since the moduledoes not access the supply line.
Use the U-G1P or U-G1PP base for roundcables. These bases have the same func-tionality as the U-G1F or the U-G1FF bases.

Lead breakage/short circuit monitoring isactivated or deactivated per channel, by
means of the parameter bits P0...P3. Allerror conditions are linked by an OR-logic-operation. In a failure case, the AS-Interfacemaster indicates an error and the moduledisconnects from the AS-Interface, while thewatchdog is activated.
